Have all of your students completed the STAR reading/math assessments? If not, this needs to be completed as soon as possible. Here's a few FAQ to help you out :
How do students take the quizzes?
The STAR tests are computerized, so you need an internet connected device ( such as a computer or an iPad ). If a child is taking the Early Literacy test, they'll need to be able to hear the device -- headphones are recommended. On either device, open up a web browser ( such as Safari or Chrome ) and navigate to https://hosted138.renlearn.com/5421460
Especially if your students are completing this on iPads, you can use this shortened link to get to the same webpage : bit.ly/ucpstar
What's the difference between the reading test and the early literacy test?
Early literacy is designed for children not yet reading. As a general rule of thumb, if a child can muddle their way through The Cat in the Hat, they can take the reading test.
Not sure? Have students attempt the reading test and sit next to them for the practice questions. If they can't get through the practice questions independently, the test will kick them out and you should have them take the Early Literacy quiz.
How can I see what children have taken the quizzes?
Go the Renaissance Learning webpage ( bit.ly/ucpstar ) and login as a teacher. Near the top there should be a set of large blue buttons labeled " Reading Assessments ", "Early Literacy Assessments" and "Math Assessments". Click on the assessment of your choice and select "Record Book" for an easy way to see which children have completed each test, as well as their score.
Note that a child who took the Early Literacy Test will not show up as having taken the Reading Test -- you may need to check both assessments to see which children still need to take a test.
What if I need to pause a test?
In the top left corner is a button labelled " Stop Test". Click it, and then choose ' Resume Later '.
What if they system asks me for a monitor password?
The monitor password is 'admin'.
