What is Kahoot? Kahoot is a program that lets you create learning games ( kahoots ) that allow children to answer multiple choice questions in a game show-like setting. Questions and answer choices are displayed on the smartboard, and kids use their iPads to answer the questions. They receive points for correct answers ( and more points for faster answers ), and you can download a spreadsheet summarizing the results at the end of the game.
Kahoot is technically a web-app instead of an iPad app. To access it, kids will need to use a web browser like Safari or Chrome.
You will also need a smartboard to display the question and answer choices.
As a teacher, you first need to go to getkahoot.com and create a free login. You can search for kahoots that other users have created, or make your own. Questions can include images, videos, or just words. Answers can only be words.
Once you have a kahoot created, hook up the computer to the smartboard and play it ( if you can't find your kahoot, look for the "my kahoots" button in the top left corner ) by selecting your kahoot, pressing PLAY and then pressing LAUNCH. Feel free to play around with the options!
Kids will need to go to kahoot.it on a web browser and type in the 6 digit PIN. They will then be prompted to input their name. Names of players will display on the smartboard. When you're reading to go, press START and have fun!
