Epic is a library app that gives students access to thousands of free books, mostly picture books. Access is free for educators, but you must sign up by visiting https://www.getepic.com/app/personalize_educator_welcome ( click here ) . Once you've signed up you'll be able to input your students. The first time that students open the app, you'll have to sign in with your Epic Account, but you'll only need to do this once. The first time that students click on their name, they'll be asked for their age and interests so that the app can recommend books for them on their level. They can still access other books as needed or wanted. The more they read, the more Epic recommends books that they should enjoy. Several of the books can be read to the students. Look for books with the green speaker icon on the cover, or click on the drop down menu at the top ( it will probably say ' Recommended' ) and change it to 'Read to Me'. Students can also change their avatar by clicking on the profile icon in the upper left corner. Clicking on the 'Customize' button on their avatar lets them change it ; the more they read, the more options they get to change their avatar. |
